Buck Deer Stare down Photography Wall Art ~ Buck Deer Photography~ Deer ~ Photos of Deer ~ Wildlife Photography~ Fall Deer~ Wyoming Wildlife

from $20.00
The Photo of This Buck Deer was a experience in itself to capture. That Morning I woke up to seeing two Bucks antlers locked and fighting out the window. My first thought was I need to grab my camera. By the time I got my camera and got myself outside to take the photos they were not fighting anymore but I noticed there was actually many more then just two bucks. There was at least four to six bucks and then about the same amount of Doe Deer. Plus several baby deer's. All in the same less then 1/4 acre area.

It was very early in the morning and not quite the peak of sunrise and the lighting was poor and using flash would scare the deer. So being unable to use my flash I put on my longest zoom lens and snapped as many photos as I could hoping the lighting would be just right in at least some of them. I gave them all plenty of distance and luckily they just stared at me and watched me and let me photograph them. This particular photo I stood there for several minutes trying to capture multiple photos while I waited for the Buck deer to turn his head to just the right angle for him to be to staring my down straight in the eyes and allowing me to get a full front view of his rack and his face head on. This reminds me of the typical "deer in the headlights" look. It was amazing that he just stood there calmly and let me photograph him. The several other bucks in the surrounding area just roaming and staring at me. Those other Bucks were in a more dimly lite area of the field so I took the time to focus on photographing this Buck. After I got this photograph and the several others He walked away slowly towards the other bucks and then stayed near each other for awhile before following the heard of doe Deer and babies who had wondered off up the hill.

Over the next several hours the heard of deer all interacted and I am assuming from how they were acting attempted to bread while the horses in the neighboring field tried to chase the deer off. After I got the initial collection of photos and the deer all walked off farther I gave them their space and decided to not push my luck of them not being bothered by me. I did not feel it was safe to get any closer with the horse and deer interactions and the possibly of breeding going on.

I feel so lucky to have seen so many Bucks in one small area and had the ability to be able to photograph them. I wish i could have got photos of the antler locked fighting and the Doe Deer that were in the vicinity but you cant have it all...maybe that is one for next time.
