Frozen Bridal Veil Falls South Dakota~ Spearfish Canyon South Dakota~ South Dakota Waterfalls ~SD~ Waterfalls~ Winter ~ frozen Waterfall~
This Photo was Taken in the spearfish Canyon in South Dakota During the winter. This specific waterfall is Bridal Veil Falls. Its one of several waterfalls in the spearfish canyon area. When we visited to photograph the waterfall was frozen solid. Driving into the canyon it was interesting as we started off in spearfish the weather was warmer and sunny but then as we drove into spearfish canyon we noticed the temperatures dropping drastically and how the scenery changed drastically ever little bit we drove into the canyon. At the beginning of the canyon there was no snow or ice and the weather was warmer around 40-45 degrees that day but as we drove even just a little bit more in and the temperatures dropped and the farther we down the dropped down to around 25 degrees in both just a short distance and time we noticed ice start to appear on the surrounding landscape and then buildup of snow more and more and even colder temperatures and then the road started to get very icy. We witnessed several almost accidents that day because of the black ice on the road in the canyon and we saw two bald eagles that day in the canyon while driving. The canyon had much less traffic and travel in it then when we had visited in other times of the year. It was much more calm and easier to enjoy the surrounding beauty with the lack of people on the small winding road. We were thankful to have had a safe trip and able to get some photos that day. Though not as many and we had hoped to and had to limit our activities due to the weather and road condition's but we enjoyed our trip and the photos we did get.
Getting this photos of Bridal Veil falls frozen is so unique and beautiful to see how amazing it is the moving water can freeze in place on this stunning rock wall of this waterfall.
